Allied Health Assisting

This program provides students technical skill proficiency, occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Health Science career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to performing skills representative of one to three areas of allied health care in the laboratory and activities performed in a clinical setting under the supervision of a health professional duly certified/licensed. Major areas of allied health are defined as physical therapy, emergency, radiation, laboratory and respiratory medicine, and occupational therapy.

Job Outlook

Healthcare jobs are expected to have the fastest employment growth during the next ten years, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In fact, Florida will have more than 50,000 job openings for nurses and nursing assistants in the next seven years. Other hot jobs include medical assistants, medical secretaries and health services managers.

Digital Video Technology

This program prepares students for initial employment as production assistants, audio/video equipment technician, video/TV camera operators, video editors, multi-media artists/animators and broadcast technicians. The content includes, but is not be limited to, communication skills; leadership skills; human relations and employability skills; safe and efficient work practices; and preparation to assume responsibility for overall production of digital video activities including: scripts, lighting, camera operation, electronic news gathering, field/studio production, and video editing. Provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Arts, A/V Technology and Communication career cluster. Media of all types are explored in this learning course of study. Video and Audio specialties are explored with industry certification leading to possible employment or entrance into college in the field of multimedia is the goal.

Sports, Recreation & Entertainment Marketing

This program prepares students for further education and careers in the Marketing, Sales and Service career cluster. The program provides technical skill proficiency and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Marketing, Sales and Service career cluster.

Job Outlook

During the next decade, Florida will see employment growth for a range of skilled and experienced business managers - from general, and operations managers to administrative managers to social and community service managers.

Web Development

This program prepares students for further education and careers such as an Assistant Web Designer, a Web Designer, and Senior Web Designer in the Information Technology career cluster. This program provides technical skill proficiency and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Information Technology career cluster. The content includes but is not limited to operating system commands and web document development, design, promotion, and scripting.
